English Tutoring

Enhance literacy and communication by addressing individual needs with engaging and effective lessons.

I have lots of experience with neurodivergent learners and work in a way to support individual needs - as a dyslexic myself, I use approaches that enable children to build confidence in their abilities.

Year 2 - Optional SATs - May

Maths Tutoring

Simplify complex maths concepts, build problem-solving skills, and foster confidence in every student.

Year 6 - SATs are in May - I can help prepare for arithmetic and reasoning.

Year 4 - June - Multiplication Check (MTC) - whether you agree with the test or not, times tables are vital to be confident and successful in mathematics.

I was 21, learning to be a teacher, when I finally learned my tables and could not believe how much everything else seemed to slot into place... definitely wished I'd learned them when my teachers said!

How are the lessons tailored to my child's needs?

When we first meet, in person or online, discussing your child's interests and motivators as well as the aspects of learning you would like to be covered helps me to design a program especially for your child.

For this session, if you have any information from school, perhaps reports from previous years, or specialist reports, bring them along so that I can ensure what your child does with me supports them directly in the classroom.

Our lessons are tailored through initial assessments and continuous feedback to match your child's unique learning style and pace.

What qualifications does the tutor have?

Elizabeth Lavelle is a fully qualified teacher and worked in a large primary school in Middlesbrough for over 21 years.

Elizabeth (Libby),  was an Assistant Head for over 10 years and was responsible for curriculum and assessment design and implementation.

Libby completed her NPQH - a qualification for Headship, in 2021 and has worked in other schools to support with monitoring.

“My child came away feeling very positive and encouraged moving forward.”
